Adoption Ceremonies

What is an Adoption ceremony?

An adoption ceremony is a celebration of a child or children joining a family. A loving welcome. A chance for a family to acknowledge the gift of love and union. A place to share what a child brings to a family, a chance for new memories to be made together. And a place to accept the challenges of the past and share hopes and dreams of the future. This journey should be recognised and celebrated, and a ceremony offers a powerful way to say we are all here together, one family joined together in love and hope.

How do you personalise an adoption ceremony?

A ceremony like this can be personalised in many different ways, not just with a ceremony but by adding small gestures such as; the lighting of candles, planting of a tree or special plant in the garden, a sand ceremony or choosing special readings or music.

If you have a religious belief this too is something that can be incorporated with prayers or readings. Grandparents and siblings can also be included in symbolic actions like a sand ceremony, where particles are blended together symbolising a bond as a family that is impossible to separate.

Supporting adults and other family members can make pledges to the child and to the family to guide them. Families can pledge to each other all their love and happiness, along with their wishes as part of the ceremony.

Certificates can be signed or even stamped with colourful fingerprints to create a memento of the ceremony. Bubbles can be blown, and singing can all be incorporated to create a fun and laughter-filled experience for everyone.

Renewal of Vows

What is a Renewal of Vows Ceremony?

A wonderful occasion not only to renew your vows to each other but also to declare how much you truly still love each other. You may not have had the ceremony you originally wanted when you got married, so why not create your unique ceremony now and celebrate in front of family and friends?

As your journey together has continued you have shared lots of experiences and exciting adventures together, so why not celebrate the road you have both travelled? Tell your story-its unique to you two.

A renewal of vows ceremony is your chance to re-declare your love for one another in front of your family and friends. You might repeat the same vows you originally had in your wedding ceremony or perhaps even use totally new words to express your love.

While these ceremonies are not intended to be a second wedding, they are a beautiful way to say ‘I do’ once again. It’s a time to reflect, celebrate and look forward to your future together as partners for life.

Why should I renew my vows?

There are many reasons why a couple may choose to renew their vows. In a nutshell, it is a meaningful way to shine a light on your marriage all over again.

It’s a chance to show and share your love for one another in front of your family and friends.

Some decide to renew their vows to celebrate a significant milestone in their lives, such as an anniversary or the birth of a child, children. Others may do it after a difficult period in their lives; something that has made them even stronger together and more in love than ever before.

Whatever the reason, a renewal of vows ceremony is an unforgettable way to show your commitment to one another in a unique and personal way.

When can I renew my vows?

There is no minimum or maximum amount of time following your marriage in which you can (or cannot!) renew your vows. It can take place at any point following your wedding… even the very next day!

You can hold the ceremony in many places, in a garden, at a hotel, in woodland, village hall, anywhere possible.

Can a Celebrant lead my renewal of vows ceremony?

Of course! A Celebrant like myself can create a unique and personalized ceremony to suit you as a couple and deliver it on the day in any location you choose. I will have regular contact with you throughout the creative process adding, reviewing, or tweaking any content. All to make your Renewal of Vows ceremony is perfect, just as you wanted.

Of course, you can add your favourite music, poems, funny stories, anything is possible!

Or perhaps add a symbolic ceremony; sand ceremony, or a candle ceremony that becomes a keepsake of the day for you to treasure.

Name Ceremony

What is a Naming Ceremony?

A naming ceremony is a wonderful opportunity for family and friends to gather together and celebrate a child (or children). This can be shortly after birth or later in life. This is also a nice gesture if families are joining together through a change in relationships.

The celebration can be held at any venue: in a garden, hotel, woodland, beach or hotel, village hall –the choice is yours. No license is required.

It is a chance to welcome the child (children) to your family and friends. The ceremony can be personalised by using wonderful words, favourite poems, stories, music-anything is possible. Family and friends can also contribute. Mostly it’s a chance for parents to let the children’s future, the love, and support they will have throughout their lives and hopes and dreams shared. But most of all the love which will be given.

Why do people choose a Naming Ceremony?

·      To celebrate the arrival of a baby with friends and family. Not wanting a traditional religious christening as we are not deeply religious. We want something informal, friendly, and fun.

  • ·      To celebrate having a child but only when they were old enough to experience the ceremony with us as a couple /family. Something for us all to share together and show our love for each other.

  • ·      Having had a lovely celebrant wedding we wanted to use the same person. A celebrant give us a unique and special opportunity to create something ourselves.

  • ·      We are not religious but still wanted the children to have special people in their lives-guardians/supporting parents, adopted aunties and uncles.

  • ·      The ceremony can be held anywhere and on any day of the week.

  • ·      There are no restrictions or pre requisites. The child does not have to christened first to have a naming ceremony.
