About Me

Hi, I’m Jools (Julia) and I love creating exciting and individual ceremonies for couples. I have over 25 years of experiencing in teaching / lecturing in Performing Arts and I run a highly successful private music practice with students from 5years up to 76years..  All of which led me to training as a celebrant. You can imagine that lots of my work is working to deadlines, being able to work on my own initiative, planning , arranging ,definitely not getting stressed, just staying calm under pressure and we need to be confident when creating productions concerts etc. My friends will tell you I’m an organiser!!!. Having worked in Performing Arts  I am able to  use all my creative ideas and experience into making every couples wedding day, truly special.

I live with my husband and westie - Mr Max -a real character! I also love meeting up with friends regularly and enjoying good food and wine. Having a good catch up and  laugh but also being there for each other -supporting each other  through good and sometimes really tough times.

My hobbies include: reading , I love a good book - be it a romantic, funny, chic lit, crime or spy novel to a good biography. Travelling to my favourite places in Devon and Cornwall - I love being by the coast. (I do go to other beautiful places in the UK) I also love a good bit of gardening, there’s nothing better than sitting in the garden in summer, with a cuppa and just enjoying the gorgeous flowers.

One of my favourite hobbies is making quality gemstone jewellery using beautiful  gemstones and freshwater pearls. Nice and relaxing and creative.

Why Did I Become a Wedding Celebrant?

I simply love a wedding……..

But having attended numerous weddings over the years I found them to be almost identical. Yet each couple was different?

Some couples were serious and some had bigger, humorous personalities. Yet their ceremony didn’t reflect this! I then knew  I could make a difference…

They also never really showed the couples true personalities, emotions and journeys together. It was rare for couples to be able to add their own individually written vows, their own special poems, readings , music etc.. something that truly means something to them alone. Family and friends just sat and watched WHY? They were all scripted the same.

I have a multitude of skills: confidence, organising skills and being creative, speaking to people in public arena but also listening to people tell their individual stories. I felt that I could use my skills and the things I enjoy doing in another way and that led me to becoming a wedding celebrant.

A Celebrant is a listener, a creator, an organiser, a friend. I love creating your day, letting friends and family take part -why not!!! You trust us to hear your story and work with you to create your day. We give you confidence to be different, to be exciting and to have the confidence to create a truly special day, unique to you. That’s what’s special for me and why I became a celebrant. Love life, love being together, love sharing.
